Paging the Elias Sports Bureau
The Cubs jumped out to a 14-0 lead on the flailing Pirates this afternoon -- by the end of the second inning.
More remarkably, I looked at the play-by-play and noticed that by the end of the 2nd, every Cubs player had a hit. I wonder what the record is for the earliest point in a game in which all nine guys had a hit.
Actually, I'm sure that at some point a team actually started off the game with nine straight hits. But still, impressive or embarassing, depending on one's point of view.
UPDATE: The Marlins had nine straight hits to start a game in 1998.
