1, 2, 3 political notes
- Yesterday I had a lot of emotions, but most of them were variations on relief. Relief that nothing bad happened. Relief that the horserace was over, and that our candidate wasn't shot and turned into glue. Relief that Americans spoke so definitively. But today I actually realized that there is something ahead, not just a victory behind us. And that in said future, Barack Obama is actually going to get to be President. And I'm giddy. More on this at a later date, I'm sure.
- The Brilliant Line of the Day comes from Nate Silver, who says there seems to have been something of a Bradley Effect in the Alaska senate race: "Convicted Felons are the new black."
- I was so disappointed to see Proposition 8 approved in California. But it's just a matter of time. Two steps forward, one step back, until the rock reaches the top of the hill. Interestingly, it was the Obama-driven African-American vote that pushed the Prop to victory. 'Tis a trade-off, I suppose. African-Americans love the Obama, but not so much the homo gay.
