TV Roundup (NO SPOILERS!)
Haven't talked about the telly in quite a while. A few thoughts on my three must-see favorite shows at the moment.

- The Sopranos: Talk about a resurgence. I asked a while back whether Season 6 would be up to snuff, another year-and-a-half removed from the show's heyday and following up on a subpar Season 5. The answer: a resounding hell yes. The season has been really fantastic, can't-miss TV again. And the feeling is building that whatever's coming over the last couple episodes of this first half of the final season will be spectacular.
- LOST: I won't talk about specifics, in case anyone's behind on their Tivo'd episodes and didn't see last week's. But the shit's hit the fan (again) and the last couple episodes should be wild. It's taken a bit of a hit in the ratings, and it seems some fans have turned sour on it. I've seen a lot written about how it's slow and how the plot is meandering, and some people don't think the writers know what they're doing. I say, these people are idiots. What did they expect this show to be like? Of course it's going to be frustrating, the slow-reveal of the island's secrets. If you want a show about people trapped on an island to be on television for more than a year, then expect it to take a long time for the plot to unfold. And the writers know exactly what they're doing. This is how the show has to be. So these folks should quit their whinin'.
- Grey's Anatomy: Got hooked at the beginning of this year and haven't looked back. Terrific cast, and it's more about the relationships and less about bloody operating rooms and the ridiculous plots that turned me off of "ER" years ago. But they did use an ER-like tactic brilliantly to expand their viewership. Already in the top 10 in the Nielsen's, they used that post-Superbowl episode (with the lesbian scene and the crazy bomber plot) to reel in more men. It apparently worked, and Grey's has moved into the Top 5.
