Lyrics

Some radio listeners in England have dubbed a line from U2's "One" as the best lyric ever: "One life, with each other, sisters, brothers."

Never thought of that line as particularly noteworthy. I actually think the next line is better: "One life, but we're not the same... we get to carry each other, carry each other."

I'm not a big lyrics person, overall. I'm sure there are a lot of them I've liked over the years, but I've also listened to songs a thousand times before realizing I have no idea what they're about.

I always enjoyed this line, from the great artiste' Young MC:
From frustration, the first inclination
Is to become a monk and leave the situation
But every dark tunnel has a light of hope
So don't hang yourself with a celibate rope
Now that's some shit! Of course he's also responsible for the line:
Music comes on, people start to dance
But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants
Not quite as inspirational, but whatcha gonna do.
