Cheney, media "bias," and a quote from Mike M.
The fervor's dying down now, but while Cheney was front-and-center there was a flood of woe-is-me posts from righties about how the media spent too much time on the story -- with the shocking conclusion being that it was partisan.
How 'bout this for an alternate explanation: The media's going to like it when the fucking Vice President of the United States shoots a man in the face, then steadfastly refuses to talk about it for almost a week.
Jon Stewart did a masterful take-down of Bill O'Reilly, in which he showed O'Reilly crying about the "liberal media" coverage of the "meaningless" Cheney story, followed by a montage of FOX's seemingly endless recaps of the latest guy-kills-his-wife story. Idiots.
This all reminded me of a post by Delaware blogger Mike M. of Down With Absolutes. Here's an excerpt of his recent thoughts on media bias (to be clear: they were not in response to the Cheney story specifically):

Amen, brother.The news is a tiring profession both in terms of remuneration and respect. People hate journalists. Right-wingers hate when Bush is pulled over the coals. Left-wingers hated when the media held a magnifying glass to Clinton’s dick. As a “journalist” I laugh at all retards who attempt to label the news as right-wing or left-wing. Fuck you all.
