Angry rant for the month

Is it me, or do conservatives constantly bring up and dispute global warming to cover up their utter lack of a leg to stand on when it comes to today's most pressing environmental issues?

If you hear a conservative talking about the environment, they're almost always debating global warming and pointing to "studies" (from hundreds of linked think tanks funded by the same three groups) to show how the future is "unknown" and there are "two sides." They know this isn't the case, but arguing this way will forestall action on it.

The ridiculousness of these arguments aside: they seem to do this to avoid talking about basic issues affecting us today. Like pollution. I've never once heard Rush open his show with, "So, how about the Bush Administration and its bullshit warnings about how many times a week women can eat fish!" I mean, let them try to argue that somehow humans aren't causing that.

Actually, that's not entirely true. Some conservatives are well aware that we're doing all this, but will make fun of pollution-reduction for fun. They poke fun at people who drive hybrid cars and joke about getting an SUV or a Hummer because it pollutes and because it will annoy liberals. I mean, what is that? Is there any hope for getting the country together when people are this idiotic?

Yes, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning week.
