Conservatives vs. Moderates; no liberals allowed on TV

Interesting piece in FAIR's magazine "Extra" on how there are hardly any actual progressives on television. Centrists like Susan Estrich, Joe Klein, and New Republic editor Peter Beinart appear regularly as "lefty" commentators, up against staunch conservatives like Rich Lowry, Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter, etc. In fact, after Wednesday's debate just watch who the "analysts" are afterwards on the cable networks.

Right-wingers deny this, because they truly believe that everyone who's not far right is a liberal. If you're a moderate, you're a liberal. Same thing to them. And they've done a great job of moving the pundit balance way to the right. FAIR mostly blames Crossfire for starting the trend by putting "self-described wishy-washy moderate" Michael Kinsley on the air as the "liberal" on Crossfire.
