Let's go Bucs!

Pirates closer Jose Mesa just struck out Adam Dunn in front of a raucous PNC Park crowd to secure a weekend sweep of the Reds -- a series that included two sellouts and drew nearly 100,000 fans.  The victory gives the Pirates seven series sweeps this year, and improves their record to 47-49, after they were 17 games under .500 just a few weeks ago.  They've won 20 of their last 26 games, and 14 of their last 15 at home.

Hopefully the likely trade of Kris Benson won't disrupt things too much. And I'm actually hoping they hold on to Mesa instead of dumping him and fouling up the team's chemistry.  Even though a .500 season isn't anything to write home about normally, for this year's Pirates I believe it is.  It could carry over into next year, as this team is young and actually seems to have some hope and a burning desire to win.
