In my defense: There's a guy named Rusty Kuntz!
I've just been had by the Pirates PR department.
Buried in the "Notes" section of today's Spring Training Recap fax is a factoid about minor league outfielder Lirpa Sloof, who set a club record with four triples in a minor league game at Pirate City.
I read that little factoid on the air, commenting that it was my new favorite name. But as most of you probably can see, it's April Fools spelled backwards.
I guess I've read too many funny (and real) baseball names to think it had to be a joke!
