Focusing on frivolous "bad news" to avoid the unfathomable
Paula is leaving Idol.
I predicted it -- or at least suggested it as a likelihood -- a year ago. I have no idea if her departure, in the end, had anything to do with Kara joining the show, as I suggested back then. But it seems doubtful that they were totally unrelated.
Either way, I'm bummed that she won't be back.
And I'm choosing to write about this story today, because it's a lot less unpleasant than the alternative, which I'm sure you've all heard about, wherever you are.
