Why Americans Hate Politics
Because politicians are full of shit. Not earth-shattering news, obviously. But here's an interesting little tidbit...
Republican Jim Roddey is the former Chief Executive of Allegheny County, the third most powerful elected office in Pennsylvania. He served for four years, then was beaten a couple of years ago by Democrat Dan Onorato. Here's what he had to say about Onorato at a recent event where they shared a podium:
Not to mention the other telling part of that quote: that the first two qualities that come to Roddey's mind which scared him about his opponent were that he was attractive and young.

I knew as soon as Dan announced (his candidacy) we were going to have a very difficult time. Dan is attractive, young, energetic, professional, and he had done a good job [on] City Council -- despite my ads that said he did a terrible job.I'm sure that line got a laugh. But you know what? It's really not funny. I mean, it is, but it isn't. And the fact that it has become funny is scary. We should never just get used to the lies and distortions.
